Lot 320: A Collection of Glazed Ceramic Mantel Clocks and Character Figurines
1 view
A collection of decorative ceramic items comprising two mantel clocks and three small figurines. The largest clock features a white porcelain casing with relief-moulded floral swags and gilt-tone scrollwork, set with a seated tiger to the foreground. The tiger is naturalistically rendered in orange and black tones with a white underbelly. The clock face is printed with black Roman numerals and the word WEDGWOOD below the twelve o’clock position. The second clock is a circular desk or mantel clock with a white surround decorated with transfer-printed pink floral sprigs and green leaves. Its gold-tone bezel frames a white dial also printed with the name WEDGWOOD and Roman numerals.
The figurines include a woman in a green gown with a white ruffled collar and a dark bonnet, and a figure in black period costume with a white cravat and waistcoat details. The third figure is a small character jug or bust of a man wearing a red coat and a tall black hat. One figure bears a white adhesive price or inventory label reading 12933. All items are finished with a clear glaze.
