Lot 265: A Collection of Vintage Silver-Plated and Silver Flatware and Tableware Including Cased Sets
1 view
A mixed group of silver-coloured metal items comprising four cased sets and various loose pieces. The collection includes a cased set of fish servers consisting of a large serving knife and matching fork, both featuring engraved foliate patterns and cream-coloured handles. A centrally placed cased soup ladle features a circular bowl and a curved handle with a scrolled terminal. The lower boxes contain a cased set of six fruit knives with cream-coloured handles, one of which appears to be a purple-handled replacement, and a cased set of six teaspoons with shell-form terminals.
Also included is a flared metal tankard or mug with a C-scroll handle and a gilded interior, a horseshoe-shaped metal stand or napkin ring, and a selection of loose knives and forks with cream-coloured handles in a distressed cardboard box. While many of the handled items are characteristic of electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) with celluloid or bone handles, the ladle and teaspoons bear marks that are not clearly legible as names but include multiple small struck characters.
