Description
A Second World War German Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet War Badge (Flottenkriegsabzeichen) manufactured by the firm of Schwerin, Berlin. The badge is of mid-to-late war solid-back zinc construction (Kriegsmetall). The design features an oval laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the base, surrounding a front-facing depiction of a battleship, typically identified as the Tirpitz, ploughing through stylized waves. The top of the wreath is surmounted by the national emblem consisting of a spread-winged eagle clutching a swastika. The reverse bears the incised designer mark fec. Adolf Bock and the manufacturer mark Ausf. Schwerin Berlin. It is fitted with a horizontal pin, a soldered barrel hinge, and a simple C-form catch.
