Lot 49: A Pair of Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Open Armchairs
2 views
A matching pair of Edwardian mahogany open armchairs featuring Sheraton-revival design elements. Each chair is constructed from mahogany with decorative boxwood stringing and light wood marquetry inlays to the shaped top rails. The open backs contain central splats formed of vertical laths accented with carved diamond and circular details. The swept open armrests transition into square tapered front legs terminating in spade feet, while the rear legs follow a gentle out-swept curve. The seats are fitted with fixed pads upholstered in a pink and cream floral damask-style fabric, finished with a cream braided cord trim.
