Lot 37: Edwardian Style Mahogany Three-Tier Folding Cake Stand

A mahogany three-tier folding cake stand or whatnot. The piece features three circular wooden shelves, each with a raised edge, hinged between two slender vertical supports. The frame is surmounted by a scrolled and shaped handle for portability. The stand is supported by four out-swept feet; the two central feet are fixed to the main frame, while two additional legs articulate outwards to provide a stable tripod-like base when the unit is open. The folding mechanism allows the shelves to tilt vertically, enabling the piece to be stored flat. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or branding on the wood or hardware. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the underside of the middle and bottom tiers, and a third similar label is attached to one of the vertical supports.
