Chinese Black Lacquer and Mother of Pearl Inlaid Coffee Table Media Cabinet
Description
A Chinese black lacquer coffee table and media cabinet featuring Chinoiserie decoration. The rectangular top is protected by an inset glass panel, beneath which is an intricate landscape scene populated by relief-carved mother of pearl or hardstone figures and a central pavilion. The wooden frame is finished in a high-gloss black lacquer, further embellished with hand-painted gilt foliate scrolls and geometric borders. The front elevation is configured with two small outer drawers flanking a central double-door cupboard, each decorated with applied relief figures in traditional Chinese attire. The unit is supported by four turned legs with gold-toned decorative rings and stands on a flat base. No maker’s marks, signatures, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces of the piece.
