Stained Hardwood Smoker Bow Sack Back Windsor Armchair
Description
A stained hardwood smoker’s bow armchair, also known as a Captain’s chair, constructed in a traditional British country style. The chair features a tiered backrest comprising a curved armrest rail supported by turned spindles, surmounted by a raised upper hoop or sack back. The solid wooden seat is saddle-shaped for comfort and is supported by four raked, turned legs joined by an H-pattern stretcher. The components are joined using traditional socketed construction. The dark stain finish highlights the grain of the wood, likely beech or elm. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the front left leg, and another is located on the left side of the upper hoop back, though the text on these labels is not legible. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the frame or underside of the seat.
