A Collection of Four Ceramic and Stone Animal Figurines
Description
An assortment of decorative animal figurines comprising three glazed ceramic cats and one carved stone figure. The largest piece is a seated cat figurine with a high-gloss lead glaze, decorated with dark brown and black patches on a cream ground in a tortoiseshell or calico pattern, featuring hand-painted green eyes. A second ceramic feline is depicted in a recumbent, playful posture with its head turned upwards, finished with brown tabby markings over a cream base. The third cat is a stylised, modern ceramic figure decorated with a hand-painted polychrome floral pattern consisting of red flowers and green and blue foliage against a white ground. The final piece is a small animal figurine, possibly representing a dolphin or a bird, carved from a banded translucent stone, likely onyx or alabaster, displaying natural horizontal layers of orange, honey, and cream. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on the bodies of these pieces; the undersides were not available for inspection.
