Description
A mahogany bonheur du jour writing desk of bow-fronted form, constructed in the Hepplewhite style. The superstructure features a central open niche below a single shallow drawer, flanked by two side cupboards with flush-fitting doors. The main desk surface is inset with a red leather-effect writing pad. Below the top, the curved frieze contains two long drawers, each fitted with two circular brass drop-ring handles. The desk is supported by four slender, tapered, and fluted legs terminating in turned collars and feet. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or labels on the exterior of the piece.
