W.A. Beech, Parish Church Scene with Figures, 1894
Description
A late 19th-century topographical water colour on paper by the artist W.A. Beech. The work depicts a traditional British parish church, likely in the West Country, featuring a stone-built structure with a crenelated square tower and Perpendicular Gothic windows. The composition is viewed from a path running alongside a substantial buttressed red brick wall. Two small figures in period dress are situated on the path, providing a sense of scale to the architectural study. The painting is signed and dated W.A.BEECH 1894. in the lower-left corner. It is housed in a gilt-finished frame with a double mount consisting of a cream inner mat and a red velvet outer mat.
