Lot 124: Carl Payne for Coalport, The Offering, Cold-Cast Bronze and Marble Sculpture

This contemporary sculpture, titled The Offering, was designed by the British sculptor Carl Payne for the Coalport Collectables Altico series. The work is executed in cold-cast bronze with a warm brown patina, depicting a stylised nude female figure in a dynamic, Art Deco-inspired pose. The figure is captured in motion, holding a sphere aloft in her raised left hand with flowing drapery trailing from her limbs. The sculpture is mounted on a substantial, multi-tiered pedestal base constructed from alternating layers of polished black and grey-veined marble. The underside of the base is covered in black felt and bears a gold-printed manufacturer’s mark.
