A 20th century George III style mahogany bow-front display cabinet
Description
This display cabinet is constructed from mahogany and mahogany veneers in the George III style. The piece features a bow-fronted form with an overhanging top surmounted by a low, shaped gallery upstand to the rear. The frieze below the top is finished with figured mahogany veneers. A pair of glazed doors to the front are decorated with five pointed Gothic-arched astragal glazing bars. The doors open to a single-piece interior containing two shelves, currently lined with a patterned fabric. The cabinet is raised on a simple plinth base with short block-style feet. A central keyhole is fitted to the right-hand door stile. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the piece.
