A Collection of Italian Dresden Style and Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Tea Wares and Pin Dishes
Description
This collection of porcelain includes pieces of Italian and English manufacture. The Italian Dresden style items consist of two teacups and three matching saucers. These are decorated with alternating panels featuring a pink ground with floral sprays and polychrome scenes of figures in 18th-century costume, separated by scrolled gilded borders. The underside of the saucers is marked with a blue underglaze crown above the word Dresden in script and ITALY in capitals, alongside a gilded number 16. The English porcelain comprises two small Royal Crown Derby pin dishes in the Olde Avesbury pattern, consisting of one oval lobed dish and one rectangular lobed dish. Both are decorated with transfer-printed polychrome designs of exotic birds and floral motifs on fine bone china. The dishes bear red Royal Crown Derby factory marks with the pattern name and the date code IX, corresponding to 1946, as well as hand-painted red marks A23 and C 24.
