A William Briggs and Co. Silver-Plated Square Salver
Description
A silver-plated square salver by William Briggs and Co. of Sheffield. The salver is of square form with rounded, incurved corners and a raised, gadrooned border. The central well is polished to a mirror finish. The tray is supported on four cast, scrolled bracket-style feet. The reverse is stamped with the maker’s mark consisting of a crest depicting a cooper with a barrel, followed by the initials W B S in Gothic script within individual cartouches. Further markings include EPNS, the pattern number 6965, and MADE IN ENGLAND.
