A Vintage Brass Scientific Instrument Eyepiece Assembly
Description
A vintage brass scientific instrument component, likely an eyepiece or telescope assembly from a precision measuring device such as a travelling microscope, cathetometer, or spectrometer. The unit is constructed from brass with an aged natural patina and includes steel mounting screws. It features a main optical tube equipped with a rack-and-pinion focusing mechanism operated by knurled wheels. Several fine-adjustment micrometer-style screws are present for precise positioning. A flat brass arm extending from the assembly body features a finely engraved linear scale; the graduations are visible, but numerical markings are not legible from this orientation. A small white adhesive label with the handwritten characters 218/9 is attached to the body. No manufacturer mark or serial number is visible.
