Description
A 19th-century oil painting on canvas depicting a rural harvest scene in the British tradition. The composition features several stooks of harvested grain in the foreground, with figures and a church spire visible in the middle distance among mature trees. The scene is set under an expansive sky with large, billowing white clouds. The artist has utilised expressive brushwork with visible impasto highlights on the clouds and the texture of the grain. The work is housed in a large, ornate gilt-moulded frame with a beaded inner slip. A small white label on the right-hand side of the frame displays the number 7627. No signature is visible on the front of the work.
