Belgian First World War Croix de Guerre Medal with Two Bronze Palms
Description
This Belgian Croix de Guerre (War Cross) is a military decoration from the First World War era. The medal is struck in bronze and takes the form of a Maltese cross with ball-tipped points and crossed swords between the arms, suspended from a royal crown. The obverse central medallion features a lion rampant, while the reverse displays the royal monogram of King Albert I, consisting of two intertwined letters A under a crown. The decoration is suspended from a silk moiré ribbon of red with five green stripes. The ribbon is adorned with two bronze palm branch devices, signifying two mentions in dispatches at the Army level.
