The lot includes a vertical portrait titled New Chest – Piegan, designated as Plate 197 with a 1900 copyright, and a horizontal landscape titled The Rush Gatherer – Kutenai, designated as Plate 252 with a 1910 copyright. These works are characterised by the deep tonal range and Pictorialist aesthetic for which the artist is renowned. Each print features printed titles and copyright information in the lower margins. Housed in matching dark wood frames with a thin gilded inner lip and protected under glass. 56 x 46 cm (portrait frame); 46 x 56 cm (landscape frame).

Condition report:

Both prints exhibit light overall toning and age-related discolouration to the paper support. Scattered foxing and surface spotting are present, primarily visible in the margins of both works. There is minor rippling to the paper of the portrait. The frames show light surface wear and minor abrasions to the edges but remain structurally sound. The works have not been examined out of their frames.
