Lot 424:
A Mixed Collection of Decorative Ceramics and Porcelain including Jasperware and Handmade Pottery
Description
A diverse assembly of decorative ceramics and porcelain featuring several pieces of pale blue jasperware with white neoclassical sprigged decoration, comprising lidded trinket boxes in heart and circular forms and two small rectangular pin dishes. The lot includes a contemporary handmade tea service of textured cream-coloured earthenware with vibrant orange-glazed interiors, consisting of a tall teapot, multiple cups, and a matching circular tray, likely of Mexican or North African origin. Also present is a novelty cottage-ware teapot designed as a traditional building with multi-coloured glazes, a tall white ceramic pitcher with gilt accents and a classical figurative scene, and a parian-style biscuit porcelain figurine of a gentleman in a hat holding a floral bouquet. Completing the collection are two vases: a large bulbous vessel with a heavily textured cream surface and abstract black and red detailing, and a slender floral-decorated vase with a blue-rimmed mouth. Largest vase height approximately 28cm, teapot height approximately 22cm.
Condition report:
The collection is offered in generally good condition. Some pieces exhibit minor surface dust and light wear to the bases and gilded accents consistent with age and display. No significant chips or cracks were observed upon initial inspection.
