Lot 47: Edwardian Pine Dressing Chest with Reeded Drawer Fronts
1 view
An Edwardian-era pine dressing chest of country vernacular design. The piece features a chest of drawers base constructed with two short drawers over two long drawers. Each drawer front is decorated with vertical reeded detailing and fitted with ornate cast metal swing handles on decorative backplates. The integrated superstructure comprises two small jewellery drawers flanking a central rectangular swing mirror. The mirror is housed within a plain pine frame topped with a shaped pediment and is mounted between two scroll-top upright supports. The primary wood is pine with a light finish and visible grain. The construction likely utilises secondary pine for internal linings, consistent with early 20th-century furniture of this type.
