Lot 303: Community Coronation Pattern Silver Plated Flatware Service in Fitted Canteen
1 view
A comprehensive set of silver-plated flatware and cutlery in the Coronation pattern. This pattern, characterized by its ornate handle design featuring a crown at the terminal and scrolling foliate and floral motifs, was first introduced in 1936. The service includes a variety of pieces such as dinner knives with bolstered silver-plated handles and stainless steel blades, various spoons, forks, and serving implements including a large serving spoon and a butter knife. The interior lid of the case features a printed script mark in an off-white tone reading Community. A small rectangular metal label is applied to the lower-left interior of the case, though the text on this label is not legible. The blades of the knives bear impressed marks including a manufacturer’s name, which is partially obscured by reflections and not fully legible as a name. The set is presented in its original fitted wooden canteen, which features a hinged lid and a deep red velvet-lined interior with shaped dividers.
