Lot 254: A Collection of Silver-plated and Stainless Steel Flatware Including The Silver Gallery Table Knives
1 view
A diverse collection of vintage and antique flatware and serving pieces, primarily constructed from silver-plated base metal and stainless steel. The group is presented in a blue plastic cutlery drawer insert and includes a variety of patterns.
The collection features a set of table knives with handles decorated with a beaded border and scrolled terminals. One blade is clearly engraved with the text “The Silver Gallery” followed by “STAINLESS”. Other pieces in the lot exhibit various traditional styles, including several forks and spoons with ornate scrolled and shell-motif handles, simpler fiddle patterns, and pieces with beaded edge designs.
Specialty items within the collection include a large silver-plated cake or pie server featuring an engraved floral and scroll pattern on the blade, a large scalloped-edge fruit or berry spoon, and a small decorative fork with gilt-washed prongs and a twisted handle made of a composite or bone-like material. Included in the upper left compartment is a small, worn black leatherette or leather pouch containing a small silver-toned spoon.
Visible marks include the literal transcription “The Silver Gallery” and “STAINLESS” on the knife blades. Other pieces show marks consistent with British silver-plate (EPNS), though specific manufacturer names are not clearly legible on the reverse of the spoons and forks.
