Lot 234: A Collection of 20th Century Hand Cut Lead Crystal Vases and Tableware
1 view
A collection of heavy, hand-cut lead crystal glassware, comprising multiple pieces of decorative tableware and display items. The group includes a large footed vase with a flared, sawtooth rim, featuring deep mitre cuts in a sunburst and diamond pattern. Also included is a tall, slender vase with a uniform harlequin diamond-cut body and vertical fluting at the base, and a substantial centre bowl with a scalloped sawtooth edge decorated with an intricate arrangement of eight-point stars and fine cross-hatching. The collection further includes two flared bud vases of varying heights, one with a stepped pedestal foot and thumbprint cuts, and the other featuring vertical and criss-cross mitre cuts. Completing the group is a small globular rose bowl with a narrow aperture, finished in a continuous diamond-cut pattern. The crystal exhibits high clarity and significant weight, characteristic of high lead content. A small rectangular paper label is visible on the interior rim of the smaller flared bud vase reading ‘12929’.
