A Goebel West German Ceramic Figural Table Lamp with Pleated Fabric Shade
Description
A West German figural table lamp featuring a glazed ceramic base and a pleated fabric shade. The central ceramic body is modelled as a tree trunk with a young girl in traditional alpine dress seated on a rustic wooden fence holding a basket. The figures are hand-painted in a matte palette of earthy tones including brown, green, and orange, set upon a circular ivory-coloured base. The tapered, pleated fabric shade is finished in a pale mint green colourway. Fitted with a white electrical cord and a British standard three-pin plug. The underside of the base features a blue printed mark under glaze comprising a copyright symbol followed by the text by W. Goebel over W. Germany next to a stylized large V containing a small bird device. The base also displays incised numerals including 226/I.
