A 19th-Century Copper and Brass Powder Flask with Embossed Shell Design
Description
A mid-19th-century powder flask constructed from two halves of pressed copper joined at a lateral seam. The body is decorated with an embossed fluted shell pattern extending from the base towards the neck. The flask is fitted with a brass collar and a graduated spring-loaded nozzle mechanism designed for measuring gunpowder charges for muzzle-loading firearms. A large white rectangular adhesive label is positioned in the centre of the body, printed with SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS LOT 305 01132502626. A smaller secondary white adhesive label is adhered to the brass collar with the handwritten digits 12870. No manufacturer’s stamps or maker’s marks are visible on the displayed surfaces.
