A Bohemian Emerald Green and Gold Gilt Decanter and Glass Set
Description
A hand-blown emerald green glass decanter set featuring heavy gold-gilt decoration. The set includes one decanter with a matching teardrop-shaped stopper and three coordinating stemmed glasses. The decanter is designed with a tall, slender neck and a lobed, bulbous body decorated with hand-applied raised gold scrollwork and hand-painted enamel floral motifs in white, blue, and pink. The emerald green glass body is partially obscured by the extensive metallic gold overlay. The three glasses follow the same decorative scheme, featuring green glass bowls with gilded exteriors and enamel floral accents, supported by clear glass stems and feet that have been completely gilded. The interior of the glasses and the decanter body show the translucent green glass base. A white adhesive label with the handwritten number 8857 is attached to the neck of the decanter (photo 1). No manufacturer marks, signatures, or acid-etched stamps are visible on the pieces.
