Lot 151: A Pair of Steiff Jointed Mohair Teddy Bears Including a Limited Edition British Collectors Bear

A pair of jointed teddy bears manufactured in Germany by Steiff. The larger bear is fashioned from honey-coloured mohair and is decorated with a maroon ribbon bow. Affixed to its chest is a printed square tag reading 200, British C, Teddy bear, A Limited Edition, of 4,000 pieces, Made in Germany by, Steiff, BUTTON IN EAR, and the UK and Ireland. The right foot pad of this bear displays two white rectangular adhesive labels, one bearing the handwritten number 12870 and the other being a printed auction label for SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS, LOT 151. The second bear is constructed from dark brown curly mohair and features a yellow trademark tag in its left ear; the word Steiff is legible on the tag, but the additional printed numbers are not clearly readable. Both bears possess hand-stitched noses and mouths in dark thread and light-coloured felt paw pads.
