Directly beneath the key is a metal instruction plate with black text providing operational guidance, including the phrases GIVE A SERIES OF DASHES INSTEAD OF A STEADY EXPOSURE WHEN CALLING FOR A LIGHT, OR SHOWING LIGHT and notes regarding the preservation of BOTH BULB AND BATTERY. The main compartment of the case houses a length of heavy-duty, twin-core electrical cable with an attached terminal block, currently secured with a piece of natural fibre twine. A white paper adhesive label is affixed to the inner lid bearing the handwritten digits 12704. The exterior of the case is fitted with an integrated canvas shoulder strap. Construction is primarily of steel with brass and plastic components to the key assembly.
