Lot 55:
Late 20th Century Colonial Revival Hardwood Rocking Chair
Description
A traditional rocking armchair constructed from hardwood with a glossy honey-toned finish. The chair features a contoured solid wood seat and a backrest comprised of four flattened vertical spindles set between two turned outer uprights. The top rail is designed with a central lobe. The curved armrests terminate in scroll ends and are supported by turned spindles. The chair is supported by four splayed, turned legs reinforced with a turned H-stretcher, all mounted on two wooden rockers. A small rectangular white adhesive label is present on the reverse of the backrest splat, though the text is not clearly legible. The construction reflects a Colonial Revival or Early American aesthetic common in late 20th-century furniture manufacture.
