A set of thirty-two figurative cast metal chess pieces by Manopoulos, finished in contrasting polished brass and pewter tones. The pieces are modelled as classical figures, with the kings and queens as royal personages, the bishops as advisors, the knights as mounted warriors, and the rooks as fortified towers. The pawns represent classical infantry soldiers and are incised with the mark MARS on their circular bases. The set is presented on a square board featuring a raised decorative border with an incised Greek key meander pattern. The playing surface consists of alternating blue-grey and reddish-brown squares. A white rectangular label with the handwritten reference number 12700 is present on the side of the board frame.

Board dimensions: approximately 28cm x 28cm.
