A pair of antique intaglio prints, produced as photogravures, illustrating classic Victorian narrative themes. The first print is after the original work by Philip Hermogenes Calderon (1833–1898) titled Ruth and Naomi, depicting three figures in a Middle Eastern landscape. The second print is titled Ophelia and depicts the Shakespearean character in a white gown within an interior palace setting. Both prints feature distinct plate marks and are housed in wide card mounts within matching gilt-toned wooden frames. The left print is inscribed P. H. Calderon, R.A. pinxt to the lower left and Ruth & Naomi to the lower right. The right print is inscribed Ophelia in the lower centre. A small sticker numbered 501 is present on the lower mount of the left print.
