Large Victorian style two-toned salt-glazed stoneware spigot jug
Description
A large Victorian-style two-toned salt-glazed stoneware beverage dispenser or spigot jug. The vessel features a substantial ovoid body with a flared neck and a thick strap handle. A secondary projecting spout is located near the base, intended to accommodate a tap or spigot. The piece is finished in a traditional two-toned glaze; the upper portion, including the handle and shoulder, is coated in a dark brown ferruginous glaze, while the lower body remains a light buff salt glaze. This style is characteristic of British utilitarian stoneware from the late 19th or early 20th century. No maker’s marks, factory stamps, or capacity numerals are visible on the exterior surface. A small modern adhesive label is present on the shoulder.
