An American Ansonia Stained Wood Regulator Wall Clock
Description
An American Ansonia Regulator wall clock, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The case is constructed from stained wood and features an octagonal hood housing the dial, positioned above a drop-trunk section with a distinctive pointed base. The glazed door to the trunk is transfer-decorated with the word REGULATOR above the Ansonia Clock Company diamond-shaped trademark containing the letter A. The white-painted dial exhibits age-related discolouration and surface marks, featuring black Roman numerals and a minute track. Two winding apertures are situated between the IV and V, and VII and VIII positions, indicating a mechanical two-train time-and-strike movement. The dial is marked Ansonia below the centre.
