A substantial part-service of Denby Cheviot pattern stoneware tablewares designed by Glyn Colledge
Description
This collection of British stoneware includes 21 pieces from the Cheviot pattern produced by Denby, featuring hand-painted designs by the ceramic artist Glyn Colledge. The decoration consists of stylized grasses and wheat-like sprays in shades of muted blue, forest green, and sienna brown on a speckled matte cream ground. Serving pieces are further accented with solid teal-green glazed lids. The set is comprised of 10 dinner plates, 7 side or salad plates, one large rectangular serving platter, one twin-handled lidded vegetable tureen, one lidded preserve or sugar pot, and one pepper shaker. The base of the tureen bears a blue printed backstamp with the words Denby Stoneware within a decorative scroll cartouche, alongside a hand-painted signature in blue script for G. Colledge and a Made in England mark.
