Lot 220: A Trio of Art Nouveau Style Silver Dressing Table and Decorative Items

A trio of silver items comprising two brushes and a bud vase. Both brushes feature repoussé decoration on their backs in the Art Nouveau style, depicting five winged cherub heads amongst clouds, a motif inspired by Sir Joshua Reynolds’ 1787 painting, Angels’ Heads. The handles are decorated with scrolling foliate and shell patterns. The bud vase has a flared trumpet form with a frilled rim and a circular weighted base. Four small punch marks are visible on the outer rim of the base of the bud vase, consistent with British sterling silver hallmarks, though the individual characters are not clearly legible.
