Description

A traditional Victorian or Edwardian period carpenter’s tool chest of rectangular form. The chest is constructed from wood, likely pine, featuring a black painted exterior and a natural finished wood interior. The interior configuration includes a deep main well and a bank of four graduated sliding internal tills positioned at the front. These tills exhibit visible dovetail joinery and are fitted with turned wooden knobs. The interior of the hinged lid is fitted with wooden keeps traditionally used for securing hand saws. The chest contains an assortment of vintage hand tools including a heavy wooden joiner’s mallet, multiple chisels with turned wooden handles of various sizes, components of a metal hand brace, and miscellaneous smaller hand tools such as scribes and wooden handles. A small white paper label with the printed number 618 is affixed to the front edge of the lid.
