Late Victorian Oak Two over Three Chest of Drawers
Description
This chest of drawers is constructed from oak and features a traditional configuration of two short drawers over three long graduated drawers. The drawer fronts are decorated with vertical reeded moulding, a design feature typical of the late nineteenth century. Each drawer is fitted with decorative cast brass backplates and scrolled bail handles featuring a central fan or shell motif. The chest is built with solid oak primary timber, displaying a prominent natural grain. It features a rectangular top with a moulded overhanging edge and stands on a simple plinth base. Small brass escutcheons are present at the keyholes on each drawer front.
