Victorian Black Slate and Marble Mantel Clock Retailed by Fattorini & Sons Ltd Bradford
Description
A late 19th-century Victorian architectural mantel clock of French style. The case is constructed from black slate and features a triangular pediment top and a stepped rectangular base. It is flanked by two columns with green marbled decoration, possibly faux malachite, set between gilt-finished collars. The front panels are decorated with incised gilt-filled scrollwork and palmette motifs. The circular gilt dial has a chapter ring with Roman numerals and is signed for the retailer Fattorini & Sons Ltd, Westgate, Bradford. The dial includes two winding holes for an eight-day mechanical striking movement.
