Lot 250:
A Detailed Scale Model Diorama of a WWII German Tiger I Heavy Tank in Glass Display Case
Description
This lot comprises a professional-standard scale model diorama depicting a Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E (Tiger I) heavy tank, likely in 1/35 scale. The vehicle represents a late-production variant, finished in a three-tone camouflage scheme with extensive simulated weathering, rust, and mud effects. The turret is marked with the tactical number 007 in white, historically associated with the Tiger I commanded by Michael Wittmann of the 101st SS Heavy Panzer Battalion during the Normandy campaign in 1944. A Balkenkreuz insignia is visible on the side of the hull.
The tank is populated with several hand-painted figures representing the German tank crew and supporting infantry in various poses. The model is set on a scenic base representing a grassy landscape, which includes various battlefield accessories: three green fuel drums, a coil of miniature barbed wire, a Czech hedgehog anti-tank obstacle, and various wooden planks and debris. A hand-painted card backdrop depicting a cloudy sky is positioned at the rear of the scene. The entire diorama is housed within a bespoke rectangular wooden frame with glass panels. A white adhesive label with the printed number 9703 is attached to the front glass panel.
