Lot 25: Three Royal Doulton and Related English Character Jugs, including John Barleycorn D5327

A collection of three glazed earthenware character jugs, often categorized as Toby jugs, depicting stylized male portraits and figures. The jugs are modeled in full relief with highly detailed, hand-painted features, consistent with English manufacture. The lot includes the Royal Doulton “John Barleycorn” Large Character Jug, pattern number D5327, which depicts a ruddy-faced man wearing a brown cap. The base of this jug bears a clear Royal Doulton backstamp. A second jug, depicting a figure in a tuxedo with a yellow vest, is marked “PICKWICK” on the base, suggesting a connection to Charles Dickens’ literature. The third jug depicts a bearded man in a green hat. All three jugs exhibit vibrant coloration.
