A Collection of American Corporate Stock Certificates
Description
A collection of mid-to-late 20th-century stock certificates representing several prominent American corporations. The group features certificates from General Motors Corporation, Pan American World Airways, Inc., Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, Ford Motor Company, American Steamship Company, Western Union Corporation, and Mattel, Inc. The documents exhibit fine engraving with detailed vignettes depicting various subjects, including a portrait of Henry Ford in an early vehicle, steamships at sea, aircraft, and internal corporate office scenes. The certificates are printed with elaborate geometric borders in a variety of colours including green, orange, pink, and blue. Denominations represented include 25, 49, and 100 shares. The documents bear facsimile signatures of corporate officers and are primarily dated between 1970 and 1975. Notable markings include a large circular stamp on the Ford Motor Company certificate reading CERTIFICATE CANCELLED AND NOT ISSUED.
