A Collection of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company Forty Year 3% Debenture Certificates
Description
A collection of Forty Year 3% Debenture certificates issued by the Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company, a corporation of the State of New York. These financial instruments carry a maturity date of 1st July 1979. The collection includes certificates with face values of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) and Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000). Each document is printed with an intricate blue guilloche border and features a central engraved vignette. The vignette depicts a vintage rotary telephone positioned upon a pedestal, flanked by two seated allegorical figures in classical attire. The certificates bear various serial numbers, including RV613, RV615, RV618, and 1045, and include facsimile signatures of the company’s president and secretary at the bottom. Several of the certificates are registered to ANCAL & CO. These documents are uncancelled, with no visible punch-hole or stamp cancellations.
