A Collection of British Military Insignia and Collectables including a Royal Lancaster Regiment Helmet Plate and RAF Hendon Souvenir Lighter
Description
A collection of British military items comprising a helmet plate, a uniform hackle, a proficiency badge, and a boxed souvenir item. The helmet plate is a large brass or gilt-metal example for the King’s Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment), of the pattern intended for a Home Service Helmet. The design features an eight-pointed star surmounted by a crown, with a central circlet inscribed ROYAL LANCASTER surrounding a lion passant emblem within a laurel wreath. Included is a red and white feather hackle, the traditional distinction associated with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. The collection also contains an army proficiency badge for a signaller, featuring two crossed Union flags with a crown above, embroidered in red, blue, white, and gold thread on a red felt backing. Completing the group is a small, rectangular metal cigarette lighter with black enamelled casing, housed in its original cardboard presentation box. The face of the lighter features a circular enamelled crest for Royal Air Force Station Hendon with the motto VINCIT QUI PATITUR on a scroll.
