Description

A collection of British military and maritime items including a regimental bugle, a commemorative side drum, a ship in a bottle, and a percussion pocket pistol. The bugle is constructed from copper with brass fittings and features an applied brass regimental badge for the Royal Welch Fusiliers (23rd Regiment of Foot). The badge displays the Prince of Wales’s feathers plume emerging from a coronet, situated above a circular wreath containing the numeral 23. It is finished with a red and yellow braided cord. The decorative side drum represents the Coldstream Guards, featuring a painted wooden shell with the regimental crest and a comprehensive list of battle honours including Waterloo, Inkerman, Sevastopol, Egypt 1882, Tel-El-Kebir, Modder River, South Africa 1899-02, Marne 1914, Ypres 1914 ’17, Somme 1916 ’18, Arras 1918, and Loos. The drum utilizes rope-tensioning with leather slides. The ship in a bottle contains a detailed model of the HMS Victory with white sails and rigging set upon a blue simulated sea base, sealed with a cork and decorative rope binding. An internal label is inscribed VICTORY. The single-shot percussion pocket pistol features a wooden grip and a metal barrel with a visible hammer mechanism.
