A Pair of Landscape Oil Paintings Attributed to Van Thoren
Description
A pair of 19th-century style landscape oil paintings on board, attributed to the artist Van Thoren. One composition depicts a sweeping river valley under a warm sunset sky, while the other shows a wooded glen with a waterfall and figures. Both works are rendered in an atmospheric style with fine detail. The paintings are set within matching, elaborate gilt-composition frames featuring deep scrollwork, acanthus leaf motifs, and shell corners around oval apertures. The reverse of each frame is sealed with paper and carries a printed label for an English firm of Carvers and Gilders, Picture Makers and Restorers. A lot number sticker reading 9703 is present on one frame.
