Edward VII Royal Naval Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal
Description
A King Edward VII Royal Naval Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. The silver medal features the bust of King Edward VII in naval uniform on the obverse, facing left, with the legend EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR. The reverse depicts a battleship at sea with the Latin motto DIUTURNE FIDELIS in the exergue. The medal is fitted with a swivel, straight-bar suspender and is suspended from its original solid green ribbon, which was the first pattern used for this award between 1908 and 1921. The medal features naming impressed in block capitals along the edge: C. 4599 C. CRINGLE SEAN 1CL. R.N.R. The naming indicates the recipient was Seaman 1st Class C. Cringle, service number C.4599, of the Royal Naval Reserve. The item is accompanied by a collector’s identification slip in a clear plastic sleeve.
