Sheraton Revival Mahogany and Marble-Topped Server, Late 19th Century
Description
A Sheraton Revival server crafted from mahogany featuring decorative light-wood stringing and inlay throughout. The piece is fitted with a reddish-brown and white veined marble top and a matching marble backsplash panel. The raised back section includes a narrow mahogany shelf supported by two scrolled side brackets. The front configuration is designed with three frieze drawers positioned above a central arched kneehole, which is flanked by two single-door cupboard sections. The drawer fronts and cupboard doors are embellished with neoclassical banding and stringing. Brass swing handles on decorative plates are fitted to the drawers, and brass keyhole escutcheons are present on the cupboard doors. The unit stands on four tapered square-section legs.
