Description

British School, 20th Century. A group lot featuring two original landscape watercolours on wove paper. The first is a vertical composition depicting a dense woodland interior with a central path and a carpet of bluebells, executed in an impressionistic naturalist style using watercolour and possible gouache highlights; it is presented in a cream mount and a simple pale-toned wood frame. The second is a horizontal landscape showing expansive, rolling moorland under a clouded sky, rendered with broad, atmospheric washes in a traditional English style; signed indistinctly in the lower right and set within a wide white mount and a plain wooden frame featuring an unidentified brass plaque. The lot is accompanied by a portrait print of Queen Elizabeth II, a Bradford Daily Telegraph Long Service Roll of Honour, and a small street scene print. Woodland sight size approx. 35cm x 45cm, Moorland sight size approx. 40cm x 60cm.

Condition report:

Both watercolours exhibit significant condition issues consistent with age and light exposure. There is prominent foxing and brownish spotting throughout, particularly visible in the sky of the moorland landscape and across both mounts. General toning, mat burn, and evidence of colour fading are present. The mounts are heavily foxed and discoloured. Frames show minor scuffing and wear.
