A diverse assembly of late 19th and early 20th-century antiquarian volumes, featuring a selection of leather and cloth bindings. The collection includes The Oxford Book of English Verse (1250-1900), multiple volumes of British Classics adorned with decorative gilt-tooled morocco labels on the spines in contrasting colours, and a substantial volume of Scribner’s Monthly (November 1880 – April 1881) bound in tan calf with prominent raised bands and gilt-stamped compartments. Also included is a red cloth-bound volume titled Family Friend 1891. These works represent typical library bindings of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, showcasing traditional craftsmanship including blind-tooling and decorative gilt work. Publishers include Oxford University Press and Scribner & Co. Measurements: Largest volume height approximately 24 cm; total shelf width approximately 18 cm.

Condition report:

The collection is in a generally worn condition consistent with age and use. Notable defects include significant scuffing, abrasions, and leather degradation to the spines and boards. There is visible loss to the leather at the head and tail of several spines, particularly on the British Classics volumes. The gilt detailing shows varying degrees of rubbing and loss. Internal pages exhibit age-related toning and occasional foxing.
