A Pair of Military Style Hooked Quillon Bayonets with Parade Finish
Description
This lot comprises a pair of military style bayonets featuring a hooked quillon design characteristic of early 20th century patterns. The items are finished in a bright chrome or nickel plating, which indicates they were likely intended for ceremonial or parade use. Each bayonet has a straight, single-edged blade with a deep fuller running along the majority of its length. The hilts are equipped with a crossguard featuring a muzzle ring and a distinctive hooked quillon that curves back towards the blade. The grip scales are a dark material, secured by two visible rivets. The pommels are shaped in a birds head style and include a functional spring-loaded attachment catch. No scabbards are present with this lot. There are no clearly legible manufacturer stamps or military proof marks on the ricassos or spines. A small white label on one blade is marked 8814.
